“Love cannot remain by itself — it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action and that action is service.”

Fight Against Cancer
The lifetime risk of a cancer diagnosis is now estimated at 2 in 5 Canadians (44% for males and 43% for females), with approximately 1 in 4 (22%) expected to die from the disease.
In 2025, it is estimated that 48% of all new cancer diagnoses will be lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers. While the incidence of melanoma continues to rise (particularly in females), thyroid cancer rates have recently stabilized or begun to decrease due to revised diagnostic guidelines. As of 2025, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, accounting for nearly one-quarter (22.2%) of all cancer mortalities. This is followed by colorectal cancer (10.4%) and pancreatic cancer (7.2%). The current five-year net survival rate for all cancers combined is estimated at 64%.
It is estimated that in 2025, 31,900 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This represents 26% of all new cancer cases in women for the year. Approximately 5,400 Canadian women will die from the disease, accounting for 13% of all female cancer deaths.
In 2023, our gala was dedicated to supporting women’s health, specifically raising awareness for breast cancer. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital.
