Markham Elite Lions Club was Chartered on August 17th 2022 . The club motto is BORN TO SERVE. MELC is a team of Service Minded people to serve the community without any personal financial gains.The prime mandate of the club is Where There’s a Need -There’s a Lion. MELC is a team of enthusiastic individuals who are passionate to give back to the community. We have been serving the community as Lions for more than two decades. Recently group of like minded people branched under the Elite umbrella to focus only on Service and helping the community.
Our Service projects are towards our global causes . Since we service from heart all our projects are lot of fun and entertaining.
MELC is not just a club but it is our Extended family and we share a strong bond of culture and traditions with an active interest in civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

MISSION & OBJECTIVES
The motto behind starting Markham Elite Lions Club was serving the community in the Milliken Mills Area and making a difference with the Indian Community. They work hand in hand to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote understanding. Whenever we MELC Lions get together, problems get smaller and communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed with unmatched integrity and energy.
To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the community members peoples of the world.
To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
To Encourage service -minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Membership in a Lions club is about providing meaningful service to their community, and having fun with other Lions.
Becoming a member of Markham Elite Lions Club is a great privilege. All the members of MELC are encouraged to invite and sponsor only like minded people To become a New prospective member you should be well placed, have time and zest to serve community.
Prospective members must attend a minimum of three consecutive meetings including regular and fun meetings to qualify for regular membership.
We are a fun loving lions club and welcome all like minded people to come join us to SERVE OUR COMMUNITY.
LIONS MEETINGS
MELC conducts two meetings every month except for a two month break in summer months. Our meetings are very informative and creative. These meetings gives our members necessary tools to strengthen our service commitment, improve club effectiveness and enhance our membership experience. Our regular monthly meeting is conducted every 2nd Wednesday of the month at Markham Elite Community Centre. To increase members’ participation and increase output our club came with an idea to have our second meeting of the month and designated this meeting as the “MELC Fun Meeting” where all members were encouraged to bring their spouses to participate. This resulted in a significant increase in the membership participation and interaction with other members.
